English Language Competence

Since the program is taught and assessed in English, students educated in countries where English is not the first language must provide evidence of their English proficiency before they can be considered for the program. Acceptable evidence includes: 

  • English as first language or successful completion of High School and/or Degree Level Education in English language
  • UK Based O-level, GCSE or Standard Grade English – Grade C or above
  • International GCSE English as a Second Language – Grade C or above
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) - Grade 4 minimum in English
  • Cambridge English Language Assessment with a minimum score of 160
  • Duolingo with a minimum score of 105
  • IELTS with a minimum score of Band 6
  • TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 68
  • TOEIC with a minimum overall score of 650

According to the Entry Requirements, one referee should be the applicant's current or most recent line manager/supervisor or Human Resources manager/representative. This person can not be a colleague.

Letter of Intent


Please submit a short motivational letter of intent outlining your reasons for wishing to join this program. Please remember that this course is aimed at those who: have been appointed or seek to be appointed as safeguarding officers, or serve as their organisation’s focal point for safeguarding issues, or work in the field of sport integrity, for national or international sports organisations, particularly National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Federations (IFs) and National Federations (NFs). (This list is not exhaustive and persons who fill this role for other sports organisations may also apply). Please ensure that you address this aspect in your letter. Please ask two qualified individuals to provide references using the Reference Form that you can download here. Your referees should return the completed form to [email protected]

Please ensure your referees know it is essential that the reference forms must be fully completed. Applications will not be considered unless two fully completed, appropriate references (as outlined above) are received by us, by the document submission deadline date. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that references are sought from the correct individuals, and are submitted fully completed, and on time. We will not follow up with referees or applicants if they do not complete the application process because references are incomplete or missing. 

We will confirm receipt of all references received within 10 working days. If you wish to know if your reference has been submitted, you should follow up directly with your referee.
